4 Ways To Track Your Sleep

Whether you wake up in the mornings still feeling groggy, or you just want to know what your sleep patterns look like and how to improve/regulate them, sleep tracking could be beneficial to you! 😴

So how do you do it?

Journalling 📓 Note down the time you went to bed, fell asleep, how many times you woke up during the night, how long it took to fall back asleep, if you dreamt, what time you first woke up in the morning, and what time you got out of bed. It might also help to include any medications, caffeine/alcohol intake throughout the day, when you exercised, and if you napped during the day

Oura Rings 💍 The best of the best when it comes to wearable fitness technology, as well as sleep tracking! Extremely accurate, the Oura Ring tracks the quality of your sleep based on the time spent in each sleep stage (light, deep, and REM), and your key vitals like body temperature, heart rate, and heart rate variability

Fitbits/Other Smart Watches ⏰ While less accurate than the Oura Ring, fitness/smart watches can be used to track your sleep as well, mostly based on movement and heart rate patterns

Sleep Tracking Apps 📱 There are many sleep tracking apps available to download, but we usually recommend Sleep Cycle. Sleep Cycle tracks your sleep patterns by analysing your sounds through using the phone’s microphone. Then, it presents to you an idea of the quality of your rest. It also doubles as an alarm!

Remember: high quality sleep is fundamental for our mental and physical health, and a non-negotiable when trying to reach your fitness goals! Refer back to our earlier post on sleep hygiene for tips on how to improve your quality of sleep 💤
